TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have worked in the educational field since 2002, holding a variety of jobs, as an after school teacher, a tutor, an instructional aide, a K-12 substitute teacher, and an elementary school teacher in both public traditional and charter schools. I have worked across California, in areas such as Orange County, Oakland, the Central Coast, and currently the South Central region of Los Angeles. I have worked with many different students, as gifted, English Language Learners, and Special Needs students. I have partnered with families of all different cultures, socio-economic levels, ethnicities, and backgrounds. My experience has definitely helped me relate information to students of all age levels.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I set forth high expectations for any class I have. My goal is for each student to reach the maximum learning growth throughout the time I am teaching that student. I do my best to make learning fun and enjoyable, while still keeping my curriculum challenging. I ask a lot of questions to students to help them go to a higher level of critical thinking and push realistic, problem solving skills. I want my students to go to keep learning and to be leaders who will have a positive change on this world. I believe if students see their education as a means to help other people, in addition to themselves, then they will be more willing to put forth a higher effort as most people rise to the challenge to help others if guided in that direction.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

There are too many moments to share, but I have always been great at helping shy kids overcome their shyness and actually develop into leaders. I have enjoyed seeing students develop into positive people who desire to help others.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from the University of California Irvine in 2005 with a B.A. in Criminology, Law, and Society. However, I decided not to go into law enforcement as I already saw the positive impact I was having working with youth. I decided to obtain my multiple subject teaching credential from California State University of Long Beach. I received my teaching credential in 2009.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

In 2008 while student teaching, at age 25, I was diagnosed with Wilm's Tumor, a very rare kidney cancer. I went through chemotherapy for a year, but fortunately by 2009 I was back student teaching and completed my teaching credential program. I am very thankful to be alive, and I know I have a purpose here on Earth to educate students to become leaders and help others change the world and make a positive impact. I am currently starting my own school for under served students in Los Angeles. It is called Generations Legacy. We will help raise students who will leave a positive legacy for future generations.
