I have just embarked on a new journey in my teaching career. I recently retired from public school teaching after 21 years and I have accepted a job at an independent school!. In my 23 years of teaching, I have fun teaching both lower and upper elementary grades. While I was the 5th grade Science teacher, I was also a coach for our school's Science Olympiad team and several of my students earned medals in their competitions. I am very excited as I will be able to use any resources I deem viable and so I will be incorporating many of my TpT purchases and creations in my classroom again!
I use many different teaching techniques to reach my students. I like using cooperative learning strategies, hands-on activities, and student directed projects.
I was a member of the class of 2010 Mickelson Exxon Teachers Academy held in New York City. I was one of only 250 teachers selected from all fifty states to attend this Teacher Academy. It was an awesome week long learning experience!
I earned a BS degree from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana in 1977. My major was Physical Education and minors in Sports Training and History. I earned my Master's Degree in Education at Fayetteville State University in 2006.
I have been married for 40 years to a wonderful guy! We have lived all over; Kansas, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, and for the past 24 years in North Carolina. We have three wonderful children who have given us six wonderful grandkids!!
