TEACHING EXPERIENCE

After many years of NYS English Teacher, I have now changed my name to Stratford Education. While my main focus will always be on English Language Arts, you may have seen that some products are not just English. I am now a Special Education teacher, and have worked in the Special Education department for 15 years, so my experiences have led me to create materials for colleagues who teach other subjects, and I am passing those materials on to you! I have worked in a New York public school district for 15 years now. I spent four of those years in the Middle School, but have spent the rest of the time in the High School. I have worked as a Teaching Assistant, a Computer Lab TA, an English teacher, and now as a Special Education English teacher. My experience has ranged from a small-class environment to an honors classroom. As such, I have a keen understanding of just how differently students learn and strive to keep every style included.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like to stay creative. A bored student is one who is not learning to their full potential.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

No professional awards (yet!), but I run both our school's literary magazine and English Honor Society.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I earned my BA in English in 2007. I graduated with my Masters in Adolescent Education in 2008. I am certified in English and in Students with Disabilities

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am also a swimming instructor. Outside of school, I like to stay active by swimming, skiing, and SCUBA diving. I like to discover new restaurants with my friends, hang out pool-side with a good book and good tunes. However, I also spend too much time in front of the television, shopping, and eating!
