Stephanie's Language Lab

I have taught for over 20 years in the Canadian Education System as a Core French and French Immersion teacher. I am in a unique position in that I have taught at all levels of our education system; primary, elementary, intermediate and secondary. I have experience teaching students of all ages from beginner to advanced. I have also taught a wide range of courses from Kindergarten French Immersion, to Core French in Junior High and French Immersion Language Arts in High School.

Over the course of my teaching career, I have created many activities and worksheets to introduce and reinforce French vocabulary and grammatical concepts.The activities that I have created are used in addition to oral language and communicative teaching approaches and are designed to provide hands-on practice and review for students on specific concepts. Drill and practice activities using the 4 skills (reading, writing, listening & speaking) provide the student with a variety of ways to internalize the concepts presented and improve language fluency. I also believe that a clear understanding of the grammatical concepts, rules & terms of the English Language can help English first language speakers learn a second language with greater ease and accuracy.

In 1992, I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree (French & Spanish) from Memorial University of Newfoundland. In 1996, I earned a Bachelor of Education Degree (Teaching French & Spanish as a Second Language) from the University of British Columbia.

I speak French and Spanish and I have lived and studied in Québec, France, Mexico & Spain. I have also studied other foreign languages, including Italian and German.
