After graduating with my undergraduate degree in 2006, I was a guest teacher for a year in over 30 different schools K-5 throughout my district. I primarily teach third and fourth grade now, but I am also the English Language Learner Facilitator for my school, which means I have the pleasure of helping our fabulous school staff further develop their ELD pedagogical skills. I spent years volunteering in middle school and high school settings, and now I focus on early childhood education with my two wonderful daughters. For me, learning new things is fun, so I'm always taking classes, reading, and sharing ideas with other educators!
I am a blend of many teaching styles- I've known since I was 5 years old that I've wanted to be a teacher, so it's been a long time coming! I am an optimist and I always search for the good in people, although I certainly pinpoint where my students struggle and help them improve. High, reasonable, & clear expectations, praise and recognition for excellence & effort, follow through, organization, and understanding go a long way in the classroom! Find the good in your students and hold them to high expectations, and they will exceed them.
The success and love of my students is the highest honor.
I greatly enjoyed my time as a student in the same district I now teach in, which is part of the reason I came back! After graduating with my B.S. in Education with an ESOL Endorsement and an elementary and middle school authorization in 2006, I was a guest teacher for a year in over 30 different schools K-5. The following year, I took over my mentor teacher's classroom and now teach in the same room where I did my student teaching. While teaching full time, I earned my Masters and a Reading Endorsement. I continue to take a plethora of classes.
