I'm currently in my fourth year teaching; prior to this profession I worked for six years as a magazine and newspaper journalist, as both both a writer and editor.

I tend towards student-directed, discussion-based instruction where I act as facilitator. That having been said, I inevitably give the occasional lecture here and there.

I received my masters in teaching high school English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

I am a member of the National Council of Teachers of English.
