I am currently a Spanish teacher with almost 10 years of experience. I have my Master's in Literacy and Technology. I have taught 5-12 Spanish during the academic year and teach Pre-K through 6th during summer enrichment programs. I work with younger elementary students through our after-school programs, too. I take part in many committees and groups throughout the district where I get to be part of many organizational and decision-making groups. In addition, I coach soccer and am working with my 'Travel Club' to bring my students to Spanish-speaking countries to expand their world knowledge. My experience rests in small, rural districts as that is where I was educated and have become an educator. I love it!
Working in a small district allows for much interaction with students of all ages in many different contexts. I am able to know each student as a person and like that they see me as a member of their school and community. I like to incorporate hands-on and cooperative learning as much as possible.
Although I have not received specific awards in my short time teaching, I am honored and reassured each time a parent or student compliments my classroom management and/or teaching. I love to hear "my child loves your class" or a simple "thank you for a great year".
I attended Roscoe CSD in New York and graduated as Salutatorian in 2006. I attended SUNY Oneonta and attained dual bachelor degrees in Spanish and in Adolescent Education. I then attended Walden University online for my Master's in Education with specialty in Adolescent Literacy and Technology.
I enjoy everything that central New York has to offer, especially outdoor things. Gardening, snowmobiling, demolition derbies, etc....bring it on!
