TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught for 15 years. The past 13 years as a 6th grade Social Studies teacher in south Texas. I began my career in South Korea as an ESL teacher for 2 years.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I try to make my lessons super-engaging and fun for students, but also challenging and thought-provoking at the same time. I love to create Social Studies material that is enjoyable to learn and instills a love of knowledge in my students. I always follow a 5-E format (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate) to make sure my students are involved in their learning.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

- Winner of the "Commitment to Learning Excellence" award in my district - Voted "favorite" teacher and class by my students :) - Nominated as Teacher of the Year

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas with concentrations in Anthropology and Spanish. In college I spent a year abroad. I am a Semester at Sea alumna- I literally sailed around the world on a floating university while studying the cultures and places we visited. It was just as awesome as it sounds :) I also spent a semester with the School for International training where I lived with and studied the indigenous people of Chile.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have wanderlust ... I have explored 26 countries and can't wait for the next adventure! I try to integrate those experiences into my lessons to bring the world to life for my students!
