I've taught classroom music, piano, Japanese and Chinese to PreK -Year 12 students, as well as Mandarin to Adults successfully with my teaching method.
I strongly believe in helping children to develop their learning skills by making learning fun. In particular, I’ve found that music is a very powerful tool in aiding students to learn languages. I do this by incorporating singing, instrumental music and movement, as well as games and activities in my teaching. This helps children absorb and remember new words and phrases in languages. I have also been very successful in using associations as memory aids. Thus, students learn how to apply what they have learnt and are enthusiastic participants in the learning process.
My students won the Best Overall Performance two years in a row in a Victoria state-wide Chinese Speaking/Singing competition in Australia. This competition has only been running for 2 years. The judges were especially impressed with my students’ pronunciation, tones and enthusiasm, as well as the creativity and originality of my teaching materials. The teaching materials are designed especially for second language learners. They use rhythm, music, pictures, and repetition to promote memorization and accuracy in pronunciation. The phrases consist of key vocabulary for each topic carefully chosen to reflect everyday conversation. I also use gestures and actions to help students learn words, and language games and activities for speaking practice and to make learning fun. As a result, students learn extremely quickly through my teaching method.
