I have worked in Special education for 10 years as an aide and a lead teacher. I began doing respite and working in a non-public school for students with severe autism. I have worked in public and private schools and with grade levels K-9. I currently teach a K-2 Language and Social Skills classroom in Northern California. I am lucky to have 3 amazing paraeducators and truly enjoy going to work every day!
Although I have experience with ABA, TEACCH, PECS, and direct instruction, I tend to teach with a combination of structure and play, mixing fun, sensory play, movement, and frequent breaks with daily schedule structure, IEP goal and curriculum work time and specific morning and circle routines.
