I began as a Middle School and High School English teacher while also working in Disability Services. I have since moved into full-time teaching in higher education specializing in Writing Studies, Literature, and Media Studies.
I believe in a hands on, interactive, collaborative approach to learning where the teacher steps aside and allows his or her students to learn through experiential projects and activities.
I was awarded scholarships for both my Bachelor's and Master's thesis as well as being nominated twice for outstanding teacher of the year.
I earned my BA in English/Education and Masters in American Literature. My PhD is in Rhetoric and Composition with Minors in Media Studies, Linguistics, and Ethnic Studies.
My philosophy on practical education is that lessons should be simplified and compartmentalized. A complete unit is actually composed of smaller parts that function independently while contributing to the development of the larger unit. Lessons in my store are short and supplemental rather than extensive complete units, meant to give ideas and activities that can be introduced into larger already planned units. I'm there for you when you need something short and sweet and inexpensive to help out when you're struggling with what to teach.
