I have taught in primary education for 20+ years. Most of my experience has been in kindergarten and first grade. I taught self-contained special needs students for a brief time and taught remedial education for three years.
In my classroom, students explore and actively participate in learning. I take risks and model experimentation so my students will feel safe exploring and experimenting with new ideas. I want my students to be risk takers and to know that mistakes are an inevitable part of the learning process.
2015 School Teacher of the Year
I earned my Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Kennesaw State University. My Specialists Degree was completed through Piedmont College.
I discovered early in my teaching career that boxed curriculum materials often did not match the needs of my students or fulfill my expectations for rigorous learning in my classroom. I have been creating materials for my students and classroom for many years. Many of the materials I create go beyond recall of material and require students to apply skills and solve problems. While practicing target skills, students are often also learning valuable organizational skills. I hope the products I provide are useful in your classroom and fulfill your expectations.
