TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching high school English for 15 years at Hampton Township High School, a Blue Ribbon School in Western, PA. Before that, I taught in the city of Pittsburgh, North Carolina, and France. I also organize international learning experiences for students.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My philosophy is "if I'm bored they're bored," so I focus most of my instruction around enhancing student engagement. I primarily teach a traditional senior English Brit/World lit curriculum and work hard to make those older texts exciting and accessible to students. I also teach Creative Writing and Journalism, as writing is one of my truest passions.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Fulbright Teaching Assistant to St. Malo, France Phi Beta Kappa, Schreyer Honors College, PSU

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I got my Masters in Teaching at the University of Pittsburgh, and before that, I got two degrees from Penn State's Schreyer Honors College in Comparative Literature and International Studies.
