TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am in my 27th year of teaching, and I still love it. I have taught the following: 8th grade Language Arts and Social Studies; 9th and 10th grade standard and honors English; 11th grade standard, honors, and Advanced Placement English Language and Composition English; 12th grade standard English; college American Literature I and II.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is hands-on and activity driven. I enjoy inventing different, innovative lessons that surprise my students. Students work in collaborative groups often and develop speaking and teamwork skills. Instruction should be rigorous, challenging, and fun.

I received my B.S. degree in Secondary English Education from East Carolina University in 1995. I received my MAEd degree from East Carolina University in 2012.

My husband of 24 years is also a teacher. We have two beautiful daughters who keep us very busy. I am also a speaker/advocate/author for child sexual abuse awareness and prevention.
