I come from a mixed bag of education. I started at Wisconsin Lutheran College right out of high school, where I intended to become an elementary school teacher. However, I dropped out after a semester because the school just was not the right fit for me. Several years later, I decided to return to school, so I began at UW-Parkside, but I changed my focus to teaching 6-12 English. However, after a couple of years there, they closed the education department to overhaul it. After several tearful and panicked weeks, I decided that I would continue my education at UW-Milwaukee. This was the best thing that happened to me. I don't know that I would have chosen a path of teaching at-risk students had I not had field experience in Milwaukee. Despite the challenges that come with this group of students, I found I loved it. I graduated in 2013 from UW-Milwaukee in the National Honors Society. I began work towards my masters at Carthage College. I loved gaining new strategies to help struggling students. However, after starting on the leadership classes, I realized that I didn't want to pursue a leadership position at this time.
