For the past 7 1/2 years, I have taught in 4th and 5th grade. I student taught and completed a long term substitute position in 3rd grade, and I will be in a 3rd grade classroom this coming year! Finally, I had a brief experience in 2nd grade through summer school.

I want students to learn through DISCOVERY!!! Through active engagement and many hands-on activities, I provide opportunities where students can learn from one another and themselves in order to make learning meaningful!

Finalist for first year teacher's Horizon Award in the State of Kansas

I have completed both bachelor's and master's degrees in education. In addition, I have been to various workshops that have sharpened my knowledge base as a teacher including Kagan, Greg Tang, Grace Dearborn, and Doug Fisher. For two summers, I completed a 2 week long workshop facilitated by Kansas State University to learn about how to more effectively teach with the Common Core math standards. Through my work with this workshop, I have also presented to my colleagues concerning the Common Core math standards and was selected by my district to participate in a vertical alignment team with a focus on the Common Core standards.
