15+ years teaching and caring for children from birth to 5 years old. The first 5 years were for a church daycare and I transitioned to working for Early Head Start where I have been for almost 7 years. I have two daughters of my own, 12 and 4, and we outnumber my wonderful husband (awesome girl dad). I have always been proficient in technology/electronics but have really sharpened my skills during quarantine with the overload of multiple platforms for virtual learning and teaching. I do have some experience in administration as well but firmly believe my future is with Head Start and Pre-k :)
My teaching style has evolved so much over the years. I would currently describe it as a Facilitator and very much supportive of a student-centered classroom. I prioritize respect for each individual child and giving them choices as well as contributing ideas to classroom decisions. My teaching style considers the long-term effects of my students' school experiences and learning.
I have an Associate's Degree in ECE, a CDA credential, and have achieved some college and career-related awards along the way. I graduated with high honors and was awarded an additional scholarship from the All-Alabama Academic Team. I have a Bachelor's degree in Career and Technical Education and am now working on a Master's Degree in Educational/Instructional Technology. I was very blessed to be awarded a scholarship for Leadership in Childcare that has covered every penny of my college education.
I graduated with a high school diploma from a very small Christian private school that I was grateful to be a part of. Later I enrolled in the ECE program through Trenholm State Community College. Upon graduating with an Associate's degree, I took a year off to have a baby and went right back to college to continue my education at Athens State University, where achieved a Bachelor's.
