Savvy Teacher

I have taught 5th grade for ten years. Most of the products I create work best with upper elementary and middle schoolers. I have worked extensively collaborating with colleagues from my district to implement the Common Core standards. Through this ongoing work I have had the opportunity to preview and assess many of the materials that have been created in other districts. I am aware of what is available, as well as what needs to be created in order to fill in the gaps. Much of what I already do in my classroom is Common Core and I am excited to learn more, and share my ideas.

I believe in challenging students to achieve to their full potential. I raise the bar high in my classroom, and all students benefit. I teach my students to think critically, collaborate effectively, and to create products that reflect their learning in meaningful ways. As we prepare our students for career and college readiness this century, we are no longer looking at isolated skills but rather at integrating across the curriculum. I am excited about this new chapter in education and will continue to improve as I learn for life!
