I began my childcare career by working in a daycare for 3 years with 2-4 year olds. I went to college for Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. I received my masters for Elementary Education and student taught in Kindergarten & 5th grade. I received my first job as a Title I (K-2) reading instructor. Now I taught 2nd grade for 2 years. Now I am really excited to be "looping up" with my second graders to teach them in 3rd grade! It is my 3nd year as technology teacher where I help other staff learn new ways to incorporate technology into their lessons. My newest adventure is creating online curriculum for a virtual academy. I am really enjoying this new career path!
I have a pretty laid back teaching style. I absolutely love to do hands-on activities with my kids and I only use worksheets when I find true benefits to them. My favorite activities or things to create are ones where students are asked to read, rather than just skill drilling. I like to make a lot of my online TPT items so students are able to do it in a word work station independently (i.e. Pronoun chart) or as a part of a whole group lesson (i.e. like my animal classification note-taking sheet).
