Sara Ipatenco

I have 4 years experience in a Pre-K setting. I completed my student teaching in a full day kindergarten program. After receiving my teaching license I taught a Title I Math Program to 3rd through 6th graders for 1 year. I then moved into a first grade classroom where I taught for 4 years before having my first child and taking a leave of absence that turned into becoming a stay-at-home mom. Since my first child was born, I have been a freelance writer and have been published in "Teaching Tolerance" and "Family Fun" magazines.

I teach according to student interests. I follow the curriculum set up by the school but I allow time for curiosity and exploring things that grab the interest of the students. I also incorporate art into most subjects because I believe that hands on activities increase recall of subject matter. I also love to incorporate picture books into lesson plans. Children love to be read to and reading about a new topic will generate excitement for what is to come!

I completed my undergraduate work at the University of Denver with a degree in Child Development and Elementary Education. I completed my graduate work at the University of Denver with a degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I also have religious teacher credentials from Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska.
