TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Over the past eight years, I've taught English 9, English 10 Honors and English 11. Previously taught for six years in urban, technology infused charter school. Taught 11th and 12th grade English elective classes, including: Banned Books, Review Writing, College Readiness (test prep), Creative Writing, Text to Film, Public Speaking and Modern Literature.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Teaching philosophy centered on developing lifelong learners and teachers of English through multiple individual, small and large group discussions and assignments. Driven to motivate all students to use written expression and interpersonal communication as a means of developing the multiple literacies they negotiate both in and out of school. Using instruction that is individualized, relevant and meaningful to the student’s life to create critical thinkers; applying experiences in the classroom to goals for learning outside of the classroom. Encouraging students in a safe, consistent environment to perform at their personal best.
