I have been teaching for fourteen years in the public schools. I spent three of those years teaching early childhood music. I am currently a middle school orchestra director and have taught private double bass, electric bass, and guitar lessons to all ages and levels.
My goal as an educator is to create an environment where all students can succeed and learn to play an instrument. The orchestra is an incredible space for students to develop a sense of worth, community, and engage in a positive way. Students learn to work as a team, understand that every part in the music is important, and that everyone must come together in order for the music to happen. I strive to provide my students with a strong foundation through study of technical exercises, chorales, scales, arpeggios, and more while also fostering the joy of performing and making music together. I also work to incorporate elements of jazz and improvisation into my orchestra ensemble.
