I have taught Kindergarten for the last 6 years! I absolutely love this grade level. Kinder is such a fun year to see students blossom into readers! I have ventured into creating digital resources on Boom Learning. Check out my store for digital resources! https://wow.boomlearning.com/author/readykteach
As the years have progressed and I have gained more experience I am finding that the best way to teach a child to read is to give them hands on practice! I try to incorporate connected texts at various points in the school day. Using the phonological skills I teach as well as sight word recognition practice, I allow students to apply these skills with various leveled readers at their own pace, rewarding them as they go to continue to motivate them on their journey to becoming an independent reader!
