TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught high school for eighteen years. I have taught most Family and Consumer Sciences courses including Teen Living, Independent Living, Foods and Interior Design. I have been teaching only Culinary Arts for the past five years.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I enjoy hands on teaching and cooperative learning. I use Interactive Notebooks in class. I like to see the lightbulb go off for a student when their hands are involved in the learning from class. I love high school students!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have been named Teacher of the Year for my school and Teacher of the Year for our county.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I attended Meredith College in Raleigh, NC and received a BS in Home Economics and Interior Design. I received my teacher certification from NC Central University in Durham, NC. Just this year I earned my MAEd in Career and Technical Education from East Carolina University.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am a lifelong learner. I enjoy cooking for my family. I am happiest when my kitchen is full of friends and family enjoying good food and one another. I have been married for 20 years and have two daughters, one cat and two guinea pigs. We have 11 children around the world who have lived with us as exchange students.
