TEACHING EXPERIENCE

We are a mother/ daughter team. Mother just retired in June of 2012 and daughter just started teaching in August 2012. In fact...daughter was hired to fill mother's position! The stars really aligned for us and we are both truly happy with the outcome. Daughter spent years helping mother in the classroom and now the roles have reversed. Mother comes in and helps once a week and even teaches a reading intervention group part time at the school. Daughter teaches a 2/3 grade class to 24 great students. Mother has taught everything from Special Ed 5-12, General Ed 3-5, and daughter has many years experience in preschool as well. We thought "raised a teacher" was the perfect alias because mother raised her daughter to become a teacher and daughter was raised to be a teacher! Voila!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Mother was awarded "Teacher of the Year" in 2000 for the whole district.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Daughter: I grew up with a teacher for a mother and knew I wanted to teach when I was in Kindergarten. I have been in classroom's my whole life which is why I picked raised a teacher as my alias. I went to all public schools and then attended California State University, Chico where I double majored in Child Development and Liberal Studies. I graduated Cum Laude in Liberal Studies and Magna Cum Laude in Child Development. I then received my multiple subject teaching credential from San Jose State University. I now teach in the Bay area. Mother: I grew up in the bay area and taught for 34 years. I just retired in June 2012 and now am back at school teaching reading intervention part time. I love to cook, garden, and be with family. I graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in Child Development, and then got my Teaching Credential and Master's Degree from Santa Clara University.
