I use this behavior chart when I realize my student needs more support in knowing when they are or are not on task. It is a simplistic version of a behavior chart, but focusing on one behavior at a time gives the best results. I don't tally them for

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've taught 1st-7th grades and have been a Reading Intervention Specialist in my 15 years of teaching. I found that the grade level doesn't matter as much as the opportunities I have to mentor kids to find growth and success in their own lives.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a fan of using a variety of teaching styles to meet the diverse needs of my students. I often observe as I'm teaching and switch the delivery method if I see the current instructional strategy isn't working. I like kinesthetic memorization techniques (pairing movement to information) as well as story-telling to help explain a concept. Allowing students to investigate concepts on their own, as well as, come up with their own projects to explain their learning are also some of my favorite methods.

Feather River Teacher of the Year 2012

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have an AA from Sierra College in Liberal Arts. I have a BA from Sacramento State University in Psychology with a minor of Criminal Justice. (More helpful than you might think!) I got my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Sacramento State University, as well. I have been trained in Love & Logic, Nurtured Heart, and Peer Coaching, and I was a BTSA Support Provider for many years.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am a wife, mother, teacher, writer, and Crossfitter. Teaching has been the true calling of my life, and I am so glad I had the support of a great BTSA Mentor to help me on my way! After all these years, I still love teaching, and I'm also excited to start writing lessons for TpT!
