Over 30 years of experience, I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades, of which first grade is my all time favorite! I found first grade to be the most rewarding grade to teach, as well. I have served as grade level team leader and have been an Early Literacy Benchmark Demonstration Teacher, opening my classroom weekly for teachers to visit and observe implementation of balanced literacy instruction. For several years I had the honor of serving as a Consulting Teacher. In this position, I worked with 12-18 new, non-tenured teachers to observe and provide feedback on classroom management and instruction. I have also taught professional courses for teachers and participated in new teacher training. Early in my career, before I had a computer in my classroom or home, I made many games and other resources by hand. Years later, a good friend and outstanding teacher, Win Johnson, taught me how to "create" whatever I wanted for the classroom using cool clip art and the computer. From that point on, I created much of what I once purchased in teacher stores. Teachers pay Teachers has allowed me to continue creating and sharing resources with other primary teachers that save them time and hopefully make their job a little bit easier. Thanks, Win!
