I am recently retired after teaching most grades from elementary to junior high in both BC and Alberta for thirty years. I am fortunate enough to have taught in both mainstream and Outreach settings. I also have much experience differentiating instruction and working with students who need academic and social supports. It is this experience that motivated me to write readers theatres that are suitable to all levels of learners, cross-curricular and hopefully, fun!
I believe in keeping things as simple as possible! I also believe kids are most engaged when they are having fun. Most of my readers' theatres are cross-curricular, combining Language Arts with math and science outcomes. My own 'go to' resources are Bennett and Rolheiser's Beyond Monet, Kagan's Cooperative Learning, Wheatley's Coming To Know Number and Jeanne Gibbs Tribes learning processes. These books are dog-eared and worn on my shelf!
