I have taught almost every high school mathematics class, almost every high school science class (except for biology and earth science), and coached 3 different sports throughout my career. (Football, Track, and Basketball.) I have done this in a wide variety of different settings, from Title 1 districts in rural, suburban, and urban districts, as well as affluent suburban settings near a university center. At the end of the day, kids are kids and you meet them where they are. For some that means meeting them first at helping to fulfill Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, for others that may mean pushing them with calculus concepts in a physics class.
I am a fairly relaxed teacher who thrives on driving the class in small group and whole class discussions. I love when students ask questions, and try to help them grow to be risk takers with their questions and their answers in front of peers. I try to weave a lot of meta-cognition into my teaching, and this includes when I am coaching. My favorite question with kids is "why?" It doesn't matter right or wrong I will ask this question.

I am a self proclaimed nerd, who also loves athletics. In addition to all of this I also grew up as a farm kid on a production swine farm that my parents still run to this day. I am also a father to a baby girl born in the spring of 2022!
