I taught in Montessori schools for 10 years before becoming a homeschooling mom, having spent time leading primary, lower-elementary, and upper elementary levels (grades PreK-6).
I believe in providing teachers with beautiful aids to their instruction and storytelling, as well as the importance of giving children logical materials with which they can teach themselves. The more engaging and well-crafted tools we put before children, the broader their horizons will be, and the more connections they can forge.
I take the Montessori philosophy very seriously, and think long and hard before making modifications or expansions of its classic lessons. One of my badges of honor was getting a perfect score on my Montessori Elementary Philosophy exam, an multi-hour essay exam that strikes fear into the hearts of many! I believe that Dr. Montessori was an early Education Technologist, and would have been thrilled to be able to make use of the technology available today, such as Teachers Pay Teachers! I have a published paper on the subject of Montessori and Technology in the Polish Journal "
I have a BA in Linguistics and Vocal Performance from the University of Texas, and an EdM in Curriculum and Teaching from Boston University. I also have certificates in Montessori Primary, Lower Elementary, and Upper Elementary from New England Montessori Teacher Education Center (NEMTEC) in Cambridge, and Montessori Center for Teacher Education (MCTE) in San Diego.
I have two brilliant and curious children who keep me very busy! We love fossil hunting, singing songs, and cuddling our two chickens, Peppermint and Grey.
