I have been a teacher for 22 years and have taught 5th, 4th, 2nd, and Kindergarten. All of the grades have had their strengths and challenges, but transitioning back to fifth grade math has been a blast so far! I have also taught a few courses at the University level. My dream is to one day teach at the University level full time.
I have been called "old school" when it comes to classroom management, but I am truly a "hands-on" kind of teacher. I believe that students learn and remember best when they can "do" rather than just listen.
I have received 4 grants: McDonald's Grant for teaching hands-on science, a Martha Holden Jennings Grant (twice) for integrating picture books in the reading curriculum, and a University Action Grant for teaching science with a hands-on approach.
I have a B.A. in Elementary Education with a concentration in science and a minor in music. I have a M.ED in classroom teaching.
I have been married to a great husband for 21 years and we have 12 year old twin girls. I love being a mom first and a teacher second. My decision in becoming a seller was to provide kindergarten teachers with sight word books that students can easily read in order to learn their sight words and feel like a reader. Although I am no longer teaching Kindergarten, I hope my resources will still serve many teachers and students. My plan is to begin adding resources for fifth grade math as this is the current grade I am teaching.
