I have taught around-the-world art, enrichment, and cooking classes to children ages 8-14 for the last 12 years. I have worked as a private world culture electives teacher for numerous homeschool groups and co-ops in my area. I have also been teaching private world culture art and cooking classes to various groups within my community as well as in public and charter schools. I was also a successful teacher at Outschool.com during the pandemic, teaching around-the-world lessons that enabled me to connect with children from all over the world.
Having traveled around the world twice, and over time learning what fascinates children about other cultures (through observing my own children while traveling), I have developed a teaching style that combines my real-world travel experiences with hands-on lesson plans that generate curiosity and wonder for each of my students. Each of my lessons provides all the necessary background information, colorful photos, printable learning resources, teaching tips and instructions, and engaging art and activity lessons.
The biggest honor I have received are the testimonials and accolades from the people who matter most to me - my students and parents. Of the classes I taught on Outschool.com during one year, I received 91 5-star reviews after teaching 71 classes. The following are two of those reviews - one from a parent and one from a student... PARENT: "Carrie is an amazing and caring teacher. Her project plans are super engaging and rich with active, meaningful experiences. In addition to excellent, high-quality content, Carrie manages to be the kind of online teacher who understands that children learn best through relationships. Could not be more highly recommended." STUDENT: "Miss Carrie’s class taught me in a very creative way. It taught me in a way that keeps me alert and active. She kept me alert by using interactive and informative slides and background knowledge and experience from being there. Miss Carrie has so many creative art projects. I enjoyed doing them and will keep them forever. She taught me so many things that I will never forget. Like how India’s national animal is a Bengal Tiger or how India’s national flower is a Lotus. You will not regret signing up for her class. It is such an amazing experience."

When my son was in 2nd grade (he is now in college!) I sat on a beach with friends on the last day of school. We conversed about what our dream job would be if we could do anything at all. My answer was quick - I wanted to teach world culture enrichment classes to children. My friends told me to go home, pick the dates, and register their children. I did just that, and suddenly I was quickly on my way to a successful 12+ year career teaching around-the-world art and cooking to children within my community! I teach children ages 8-14 in private homeschool co-ops, in after-school and weekend classes, and also in public and private schools in my area. I am very fortunate to get to teach such a wide variety of curious, smart, diverse, and dedicated learners!
