OT for Schools

Hello, I am an experienced Occupational Therapist and Sensory Integration Practitioner working in community settings and school-based practice in the UK. I work directly with children who have a diagnosis of autism and complex needs alongside providing support for children with special educational needs within mainstream schools. I am passionate about Sensory Integration and the impact of the sensory systems on function, learning and behaviour. I continue to provide training for teachers, students, SENCo’s, parents and caregivers on sensory challenges and how to develop skills and strategies to enhance the lives of children with autism and complex needs. My direct work with children focuses on helping them to gain skills, develop their independence and support them to reach their academic potential. This includes intervention to develop fine and gross motor skills, visual-motor skills, perceptual skills, emotional regulation and executive functioning skills. I have attended extensive training on handwriting difficulties in children including a training course with Dr Sidney Chu a renowned expert within the field of OT in helping children with complex needs and sensory processing disorders.

I have a First Class Honours degree in Occupational Therapy and have achieved my PGCert in Sensory Integration through the Sensory Integration Network and Ulster University. I consider myself to be a lifelong learner and continue to develop my professional skills whilst keeping up to date with the latest evidence based research. I am registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and I am a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT).
