TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I taught music at public schools for almost 40 years, with most of my teaching at the K-8 levels.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is INTERACTIVE: My specialties are the Orff approach, ukulele, guitar, keyboard, drumming, dancing/movement, technology, global perspectives, differentiation, community-wide events, and funding raising, especially through DonorsChoose.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I was nominated three times for teacher of the year at my school. I received two major foundation grants, over 150 DonorsChoose-funded projects, and the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation $10,000 Innovation grant.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Master of Music Ed, Butler University Bachelor of Music Ed, Butler University Orff Certification-Level I, II, III, Anderson University Little Kids Rock Certification (two workshops) International Baccalaureate Middle School Certification

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I was born and raised in Paris, Ky. My husband and I met at Butler University in Indianapolis. Because my husband was a college football coach, we moved around a bit, but ended up back in Indianapolis where we both are now retired. My two daughters live in Denver and we love to visit them and their families.
