I teach in a self contained classroom for students with autism and I love it! I teach 3rd through 5th grade and have a wide range of abilities and challenges in my classroom.
I have a big variety in my classroom! The classroom is based on TEACCH methods. We incorporate academics with communication systems, social skills, self care, behavior management, expressive/receptive language instruction and vocational tasks. I base instruction on each student's IEP goals. Our day is managed by a visual schedule system. We build in independent work and engaging one on one sessions with staff.
