Olivia H Dial

Currently in my fourth year teaching first grade. I have taught for two years in Utah, and two years in South Carolina. I am certified K-6, and to teacher ESL students. I have also published a book (as an associate editor) through NCTM called Deepening Students' Mathematical Understanding with Children's Literature.

My teaching style comes from a million different places! I use some principles of Responsive Classroom, as well as draw from many philosophies for behavior management. I believe in a Balanced Literacy model, while using the Reader's and Writer's workshop, in conjunction with explicit phonics instruction. I love integrating across subject areas, and using children's literature to teach math.
