Since the start of my career in education, I have taught all elementary grade levels (kinder through 8th), including within multi-age programs, sheltered English immersion, and gifted/highly-capable programs. Most recently I was the principal and curriculum director at a PreK-8th grade dual-language school. There was also one super-awesome year that I shared a contract as a .5 library media specialist :)
Education is not only my profession, but it’s also still my passion. My favorite professional books: -The Art of Coaching (Aguilar) -The Third Teacher -The Morning Meeting Book -Restorative Practices Handbook for Teachers, Disciplinarians, and Administrators -Implementing Restorative Practice in Schools: A Practical Guide to Transforming School Communities -Better Than Carrots or Sticks: Restorative Practices for Positive Classroom Management
NBCT; National Board Certification in English as a New Language in Early and Middle Childhood
I earned my BA in Liberal Studies, with an emphasis in Human Development, as well as my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, both from San Diego State University. I completed my induction program through the Silicon Valley New Teacher Project while teaching in the Bay Area and soon after relocated to the Pacific Northwest where I continued teaching and earned my MA in Teacher Leadership. I completed and achieved National Board Certification (focusing on English as a New Language in Early and Middle Childhood) and built a small nonprofit with colleagues that supports and develops culturally-responsive teachers. For the last six years, I have been the Principal and Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Director at a teacher-administered multi-age school in Costa Rica.
