TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been teaching K-12 for 20+ years. In the USA and abroad. I am a theater teacher. I know what teachers need: scripts with large casts, simple staging, etc. While much of my experience has been teaching Literature (7-12), I've spent many years teaching music and writing and producing drama productions at all levels. I also ran theater tech (lights, sound, set construction...) for years.

I am interested in everything, including science, which is how I got involved in writing Forensic Science mysteries for a Science teacher friend of mine. They combine my love of writing and crafting characters with my interest in history, art, geography, mysteries and much more...

MY TEACHING STYLE

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I am a member of the SACD (Société des Auteurs et Compositeurs Dramatiques) and the Dramatists Guild. My ensemble piece ELLIS ISLAND AHEAD! will be published by Eldridge Plays and Musicals in November 2022. And my monologue THERE ARE NO CLOSETS IN MY CLASSROOM will be published in the Smith and Kraus anthology WE-US: Monologues for Gender Minority Characters in 2023. My first 10 minute play "WALKING WARM" earned a semi-finalist place in TASN's 2021 Annual Short Play Festival and my first teleplay "SPELLBOUND HORSES" won Second Prize from the Central Illinois Chapter of the National Society of Arts and Letters in 1993.
