Never Left Elementary

I have worked with kids for years! Going on two years of teaching fourth graders in a rural school district! Third and fourth grade teacher for the last three years. Substitute teacher for a year, before being hired temporarily in a first grade English Language Development (ELD) position just before distance learning began. Temporary second grade teacher, taught 28 wonderful students. Seven years of summer day camp work - anywhere from office work to camp counseling, to head instructing and creating summer curriculum as a leadership staff for the last two years. Years of volunteering with STEM Lego robotics, after-school programs, and in classrooms. Throughout high school, I volunteered in my mom's kindergarten classroom and in other kindergarten classrooms.

I have always tried to have my classrooms to focus on collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. I want my students to know and practice discussing with others to discover new ideas and formulate their own. All students should have the opportunity to be creative in whatever form that works the best for them. Through all instruction, students need to practice critical thinking. I refuse to just "give" answers - I guide students to ask deeper questions and dig deeper to find their own answers.
