Natalie Smith Art

I have over 10 years of formal teaching experience from 4th to 12th grade in the arts. I have taught in public and private schools in Johannesburg, South Africa. I have been teaching Visual Arts and Dance informally for over 5 years through a variety of art and dance styles. I have my Post Graduate in Visual Arts and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education- cum laude with 9 out of 9 distinctions. I have many years of competitive dance experience as well.

Creative, artistic, responsible, and a love for children and education are the principles that I live by. I believe in developed maintaining a productive classroom environment and emphasizing student involvement in the learning process so that each student achieves the learning objectives. Maintaining a positive relationships with students and encouraging and believing in their abilities and success is an important part of my philosophy. I am deeply passionate about the arts! I believe that excellent classroom management and discipline is imperative in order to foster great respect and knowledge for and about the arts. I try to create a space in which there is a great understanding for the arts and how art can impact one’s life. I believe in the fusion of art forms to broaden the student’s exposure to many art disciplines. I hope to provide the students with the best possible learning experience. I hope to leave my students understanding and feeling a deep respect for the arts. I hope to take my passion, skills and experience to better the skills and lives of others.
