I operated my own tutoring business for ten years and before that, I was a special education teacher for over 20 years working with students of all ages and abilities. I collaborated often with regular classroom teachers in modifying curriculum materials so that students could be successfully included in the regular classroom environment as much as possible.
I consider my teaching style to be student centered. I strive to make learning experiences as individualized as possible based on unique learning needs and interests. My role as a teacher is to be the facilitator for learning. I encourage my students to take an active role in their education, to initiate learning tasks that are relevant, meaningful, and useful.
Received "Hats Off" Commendation for "the care and concern of my students". Served on advisory board for the Massachusetts State Department of Mental Retardation.
BS in Elementary and Special Education from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Completed graduate classes in educational administration at the University of St. Thomas and at the University of Minnesota.
