TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This will be my 19th year in the classroom! I currently teacher kindergarten-5th grade, but have taught PK, middle school and high school students in the past through classroom teaching, private teaching, camps and after school programs. I am Orff and Kodaly Certified. My current campus houses approximately 400 students, about 350 of whom I teach. This campus is labeled as Title One, meaning a significant number of students are economically disadvantaged. My primary instrument is French Horn. I also love playing recorder, ukulele, dulcimer and piano.

MY TEACHING STYLE

As my resources suggest, my teaching style is simple! I find kids get distracted easily (as do I) so I keep things simple and fun. In my classroom I do put an emphasis on music literacy, creative movement and improvisation. Teachers in my feeder pyramid love to get my students because they are well trained musicians by the time they leave fifth grade!
