I have taught 5th grade for the past 6 years. I have some experience with all elementary school grade levels as a substitute teacher as well. Currently, many of my students are English Language Learners or come from struggling, socio-economic environments.
I like to be a creative and engaging teacher. Lessons/activities that stimulate students' minds to foster a love for learning, and to think 'outside the box' are my specialty.

I am a second-career teacher. I initially received a BA in English/Creative Writing with a minor in Spanish. Many years later, after substituting and gaining a provisional teaching Certificate, I decided to go back to school where I earned my Teaching and Masters Degree in Elementary Education K-8
I absolutely love teaching and learning. One of my personal philosophies is that, the day I quit learning as a teacher, is the day I need to retire. I feel that, like my students, I need to be open to possibilities. I come from a family that encouraged a love of learning in itself and that is how I try to live my life!
