As Educator, I have been teaching for three years in Charter Schools within the Los Angeles area. Within my 3 year I have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade history with a focus on Common Core State Standards. In addition, I have had the pleasure of teaching an intensive writing and reading courses.
I believe that the person who do the most in the classroom, do the most learning. My teaching style and lesson design reflects this. Many of the lesson I design will ask students to critically think, reflect on what they are learning, and create connections to the present rather than simply learn historical facts. In addition, as a educator who services ELL and academic language learners, my lessons will meet the needs of students who struggle with reading, writing and comprehension. I do this through the use of graphic organizers, sentence frames, among other reading and writing strategies. Lastly, I have grown as an educator in the climate of CCSS, so my lesson will focus on Common Core standards, ideas, and skills.
