Have been teaching since 2003 years, from Year One through to Year Six. Currently teaching Critical Literacy/Library from F-6.
Over the years I have changed from an investigative, project based approach with older students, to a much more explicit instruction model after seeing the needs of students in my class. Instructional time is so valuable and to have it spent on "busy work" doesn't benefit anyone. Many of the materials I use and produce are outlines or templates which can be changed and adapted to different situations and the needs of different students, rather than a "one size fits all" approach.
Bachelor of Arts (Multicultural Studies) - Honours Bachelor of Education - Honours Currently studying Master of Education, Language and Linguistics
I went to 3 different schools in my first year of schooling, 5 different schools in total, and moved house 9 times... so lots of disruptions. I was one of the youngest in my class, starting school at only 4 years old. Didn't make much difference until my final year of school when I was only 16 and others turning 18, and then first year of Uni when others were going out to clubs and I was still only 17!
I have lived and worked in Australia my whole life, apart from the three years I spent in the UK. Working in another country gave me a valuable insight into the value of teaching and education.
