TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am in my 18th year teaching. I taught fifth grade for nine years. I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math for one year. I taught second grade for two years. The rest of my teaching career has been spent in first grade. I am now back in 5th grade and teach only reading/language arts for the school year.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like to spend time picking out quality literature to go with whatever skill I'm trying to teach. I then make lessons based on the skill and the book I'm going to teach it with. I also try to incorporate a lot of hands-on activities with whatever I'm teaching so students don't get bored and are actively engaged.

I'm 41 years old with a great family. I have a wonderful husband who understands how much time teaching takes. I also have a 12 year old son who makes sure there is never a dull moment. We also have 1 dog that is a basset hound named Madame Leota after my favorite ride at Disney World.
