TEACHING EXPERIENCE

In fall of 2012, I student taught in 5th grade and took over a different 5th grade class mid-year (Jan. 2013). I saw first hand the importance of establishing a strong management plan and what happens without one! Since then, I taught kindergarten for 5 years. I looped one of my kindergarten classes in 2016 and was able to teach 1st grade for a year. It was an eye opening experience! I was literally able to see what my kindergarten students needed to know before entering first grade. Kindergarten was my favorite grade level. I absolutely loved being one of (or the very) first teachers my students experienced. I tried to foster an early love of learning in each of my kinder kiddos! I left the classroom to become an elementary school counselor and taught lessons to all students K-5! After a few years of counseling, I went back to teach kindergarten for 1 year. Now, I am a New Teacher Coach for my school district and L.O.V.E. every minute of it! I get to help new teachers with classroom management and creating a safe and rigorous learning environment.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I use whole brain teaching methods. I have a very structured teaching style and this method fits in nicely with what I already do.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I received the Distinguished Star award in May of 2016 for my performance zone. I was also nominated for the Heart of Education Award in 2017 and 2018. The role of teaching itself is an honor and I'm proud to do it day in and day out!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I received my Bachelor's degree from UNLV in Dec. 2012. I received my Master's degree in School Counseling from Touro University in May 2015. I earned certificates in Teacher Leadership and Innovations in Educational Technology from SUU in August 2016. I received my Master's in School Administration in 2022.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have been married for over 25 years and am the proud mom of two adults! My son is 24 and lives on his own in Iowa. My daughter is 21 and is also living on her own!
