I firmly believe that history allows each and every individual who studies it the ability to look beyond the present world as they see it. Because of this, social studies does not have to be dull. I like to incorporate several methods into my teaching that allow my students to connect with the outside world by showing them how the past created today and how today can help them predict the future. Hopefully my students will learn to feel empathy for their fellow man and change the way history repeats itself.
