Currently, I am responsible for instructing 7th and 8th-grade students on the emergence of global and American ideals and cultural heritage. I help students understand and exercise his/her rights, privileges, and responsibilities as a citizen. Additionally, my duties include 7th and 8th-grade curriculum design for the Social Studies Department at the Middle School. Also, I am the team lead for the 8th grade helping to plan and implement RTI processes for our students. Prior to middle school, I worked as an academic coach. As an academic coach, I focused on offering in-school academic supports for students in high schools in partnership with the City School District. I partnered with the building staff and administration to identify and serve youth struggling with core courses and Regents Exams. I focus mainly on small and large group pull-out settings with at-risk students. The overall purpose of programming beyond course content is to support at-risk students to increase school attendance and academic success to promote graduation.
