TEACHING EXPERIENCE

High School Math: Advanced Integrated, Intermediate Algebra Middle School Math: Common Core 7th and 8th Grade Math, Accelerated Math, 6th Grade Math

MY TEACHING STYLE

I aim to balance conceptual understanding and procedural fluency using holistic problems to engage students. Typically I use private think time, followed by collaboration in groups, and then present whole class. Then I like to provide students with opportunities to engage in repeated reasoning to develop and solidify their thinking and skills.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have 13 years of experience teaching math in the San Diego Unified School District. I have 2 years of experience teaching high school math and 11 years of teaching middle school math. I have a B.A. in Mathematics and a Master of Education, both from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). I also have an Administrative Credential from the University of San Diego (USD).

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I know the feeling of being stuck and confused when working on math problems, and this has only helped me teach math better. I enjoy teaching students for understanding, and love those aha moments. I aim to create resources to help educators advance student success in math.
